many music services companies are structured on low-touch service, need for scale, and lack of skin in the game. they are built to maximize the number of users via automation, and often brand themselves as ‘artist empowerment’ due to low fees and putting digitized tools directly into the hands of artists. you get what you pay for.  there is little to no investment in artists, and the provided tools are ineffectual without a real team fighting against millions of other artists. these services also provide a one-size-fits-all approach and rarely take into account non-digital, non-streaming elements of an artist’s career.
